Well I have been around the game on and off since beta and joined Watchfire pre launch. Alas there are not so many around now and pop on sporadically. And as I had not logged in for months I was cleared out which is fair enough.
I dediced to take this oppertunity to look for a new home and check my options. One of which was this fine, friendly looking SG right here. After a chance encounter with a member last night. So I would like to say thank you so much for gving me an invite so promptly and making me so welcome.
So if I may I would at very least like to introduce myself properly. Below is a cut and paste of my introduction over on my secret world Pre Launch cabal site.
Nick: Lodestar
Age: 33 (at time of this post)
Location:
As signature says I’m from Hull in East Yorkshire, England.
Gaming Experience:
I played video games ever since I was tiny back in the early 1980s on the old family Sinclair Spectrum and the coin op machines over the years. Played alot of games on many platforms since then acorss many gnres. I have a particular liking for Stradeg games and RPGs. A huge fan of the Total War series.
My first MMO ever was City of Heroes just after Issue 4. I was going to play Everquest years ago but for a few reasons I never got around to it. So playing an MMO was a long time coming. I played it for around 2 years (closer to 18 months due to computer problems) While there I made Captain of a medium sized Super Group and then moved to a member of one of the largest and best known SGs on the EU Defiant server. I even made Lead on one SG shortly before I left.
Tried WoW twice now each for 2 month stints but I just didn’t like it. Also played EvE which I really liked but had no time to really get into it at the time. And lastly I played AoC which for me was a big disappointment.. Had betas here and there too such as Tabula Rasa. Currently a lifetime subscriber to Champions Online though this has also had its issues that have kept me out of the game.
I have a little PnP experience too with Shadowrun and one or two others. Not much to write home about.
Personal Information:
So who am I? I love sci fo and fantasy and grew up reading and watcning that kind of thing. Id have to say all that began when I saw Star Wars. Back then it was all brand new.
I am well into natural medicine and have become so inspired I am making preparations to study in this field along with other natural healing techniques. Such as Osteopathy and homeopathy. I recently became interested in breath healing. I'm a nature lover and very fond of animals.
I,m also into sport and fitness particularly martial arts which I have loved since my earliest years and football. Im an avid follower of my local team Hull City who recently broke into the English Premier League last summer and was the first time in their 104 year history they ever reached top tier football. As a season pass holder for the last few years I barely missed a home game.
I’m an old CoH player from the beginning of I4 but I left 2 years later as I felt there was little more I could do in game and realised much of the reason I was still there was down to an attachment to my character.
Having left the game a long time ago I still never truly put away my favourite characters that I made in that game. Most notably Lodestar who was almost sees autobiographical. And to this day remains my favourite creation in any game. Almost like a flag ship of mine.
I originally chose the name Lodestar when looking for a catchy name that I felt suited the kind of character I wished to play and after using a thesaurus to get ideas of a description the word Lodestar stood out. With my own background and inspiration of coming from a port city the name had an extra meaning for me as a navigation star for sea going. From that point on I had a flurry of activity that mostly seemed to come together which seldom happens for me.
It inspired his costume as dark blue on black with a white star on the front which was supposed to be night camouflage and represent the night sky a sailor might see. He was a martial arts master who used little equipment and originally was a regen mutant.
While I still liked the rapid healing I later decided I didn’t care too much for being a regen mutant which I felt was too common and instead went for the idea of him being a natural self healer using the power of his own mind. A subconscious willpower of his among other mental abilities and later a gift for healing others. As things progressed Lodestar and the other characters I created went under a few alterations and quickly outgrew the power sets of the City of Heroes and I found I was almost creating a world of my own.
I had a pipe dream of creating an audio comic featuring mine and others creations but due to my constant recreations and indecision and sheer lack of resources it was never realised. I sometimes wonder if that was for the best. Even now I still alter Lodestar though he still remains much the same for the most part.
