Sounds like a good plan. Hopefully I can make the time and date when it goes down.

Alright then, the time will be: 4 PM PST (Server Time) Midnight GMT 1 AM CET 10 AM AEST The following persons would like to be helping with the event: *)ronnocthered *)randompersona *)rosalina *)ninghamster *)daphil If you didn't already, please confirm this. I can't just blindy hope that you might have read this, I have to know. For the date, I'd suggest the 12th of December, 2009 (saturday). The Aussies play on sunday morning then. The next option would be the 26th of December, since I will not be around on the 19th. Again, please tell me if the date is right for you as soon as possible, so I can announce the event in time. _________________________ Also, I would suggest the following: RegistrationPeople don't have to register beforehand. They will instead pay an entrance fee at the place of the event (50n). I will take note of their names. PresentationWhen the event starts, we have the contestants line up. Then we call one at a time to step forward, show us their original costume, switch to the altered version and finally step back in line. I don't know how many people will participate, but it might be a lot of them, so make sure you got something to write with you, just in case you'd like to take notes about certain contestants. JudgementEvery judge (one after another, I will call them to keep it structured) will now announce his top three costumes in our orga-channel. I don't really mind how you come to your results. Personally, I will try to consider a) the look of the original costume, b) the look of the altered version, c) the quality of the adaption. If you rate things differently, that's perfectly fine. The third place will be worth 1 point. Second will be 2. First will be 3. Once the judges are done, we're calling the finalists. The margin to make it into the finals totally depends on the number of participants. I don't like it, but we will have to make this up as we go. Either way though, the finalists have to reach a certain number of points. This can be anyhting from 1 point upwards. Of course, if there's only 3 contestants, we just call the winner right away. FinalsUnsurprisingly, the finals are not that different from what we've already done. People line up, one at a time presents his adaption, ect. Judgement will be the same again. In the end, we will have a winner, a second place and a third place (in case of a draw we just vote on who should recieve the placement in question). Curing the winnerFirstly, we will announce the third place, then the second place and finally the winner. Once this is done, they can come fetch their prizes. PrizesFirst place - 50 G Second place - 25 G Third place - 10 G As for additional prices, I'd suggest to just collect stuff (costume unlocks and action figures) and then have them decide what they want. First place may choose first, second place may choose second, third place chooses last. So it's like a bazar of prizes, and the better you fare in the contest, the bigger your choice. Speaking of which, anyone who wants to donate stuff? I've stored a few costume unlocks on my bank account for this event, I'm also going to look around for a nice Action Figure to give away. Oh yeah, and please post you opinions on all of this.

My action figure stash for the Carmel event is at your guys' disposal, with the exception of the rare ones (since I'm a lazy ass and don't want to farm more than I have to for the thing ). I've got all the common UNITY drop ones, most of the common PvP ones, and most of the common Nemesis ones. You can see what's in there in my super special private tab. A few thoughts: I'll announce this in the CarmelSantiago event. I recommend doing it this next weekend, my event is at 2 PM, finishing up about a half hour before you want to hold this, so I can tell everyone who played and they can all join in yours. I'd suggest only 1-2 choices per judge if you have everyone on the list show. Then those are just the finalists, and they do another strut and you pick winners from those left. Trying to tally points and having each judge rank their top 3, then make another determination just adds complication to the matter. And you really don't have to worry too too much about having everyone confirm, just announce it. You only need 2-3 judges to make it work, I'll commit that if none of the other judges make it I'll help out, but unlike my event where I need a minimum of 4 people, you can do just fine with 2 May be more fun with 5, but still. Good luck, this should be fun

Granted, the point-system could indeed become a bit confusing. As I said, though, let's see how many judges are going to be there, let's see how many conestants are going to be there. If there's only 5 contestants we won't have a preselection anyway.
So, we'll still have to see about how the rating is going to work. While I'm open for other suggestions, I really like Funsocks' idea of keeping it simple, at least when it comes down to making a rough selection of finalists.
Anyway, I'll announce the event today evening (which is going to be around noon/afternoon PST)

Yep, we do indeed have costume slots. You get a second one at 15, a third when you join a SG, and I actually don't remember what level the last one unlocks at. And you can buy more from the C-Store
All of the details sound pretty good to me. I'll see about wrangling up some action figures and the like to give out as prizes.

Okay, the announcement's out there, hope you like it.
As for the prizes, I will try to acquire a Gnasher AF so we have at least something rare to give away. If there's any Figures or Costume Unlocks you guys want to donate, I'd be more than happy to take it.
Right now we have a lot of common Action Figures and lotsa weapon unlocks, so I'd suggest that every winner has the option to either choose one Action Figure OR two costume unlocks.
Opinions?

Yes, the event will start on time - in 13 hours from now.
In other news, nobody wants to help with the prizes? Guess I'll have to abuse the SG bank account then.
A question to Mr. Funsocks: when you offer people the choice between your common Action Figures, how do you do that technically? Do you open a trade window with them, throw everything in there and let them choose? Or do you invite them into the guild so they have access to our bank account?

Uh, guys? Anyone know where our money went? Didn't we have 510g on the bank account? Cause now it's 30. I'm just asking, because I spent most of my money on an Action Figure for the contest winner and now we don't have any prize money, which, y'know, kinda sucks.

I withdrew my cash, someone was taking out huge quantities (125g) without responding to tells about why. I can give you the cash for the prizes, though at some point I have to start earning money again As for how I usually do it, I basically just invite the winners to a team, and click/drag everything in 3 at a time to link them the action figures. But there's a lot more now than there even were last week, so I have no earthly idea how I'm going to do it I might just link them to the wiki page, and tell them the numbers I have.

Hmm, yeah, sounds like a good plan, at least for the action figures. For the costume unlocks, dunno, might actually have to copy each one of them into the chat window.
If you'd be able to help me out with some money, that'd be great.

I will set up a channel for the orga later on. It's going to be Invite-only, so everybody who's there to help out and judge please send me a tell prior to the contest, I'll invite you then.

Okay. Phew. We've done it. That was some piece of work, I tells ya.
Anyway, I liked it, although it was chaotic as hell. However, now that we know just about how many people to expect, we can work on the voting system, ect.
Any feedback from you guys? Ideas? Anyone up for holding a new event next saturday, themed around the season?
Though personally, I have to say, I think it's a shame that we couldn't include backstories in this one. Maybe I'll do another contest over the forums, where you have to adapt your concept and deliver an in-character-explanation for the change. I dunno, would just have loved to hear more about the concept of these fallen heroes, how and why the fell.. might have to flesh that idea out a bit. Anyway, it's tired and I'm late. Where was I? Oh right, next costume contest?

If you're gonna include that, you're gonna have to do it on the forums, rather than in-game. If you want it to be an event, having each person come forward, show both costumes, AND have all the judges read through their stories, before even making a decision, is going to make it take 3 hours.
