hey guys! im using my phone to post this...so, yea
anyways, where's daphil? i kinda miss the waffle vs pancake fights that he'll start. hehe. i would like to have another costume contest, with the same rules and procedures as the last one. this time around i would like to see copycats or mythology for the theme...or probably even both in the same contest ^_^
any ideas, support, etc?
another awesome idea i have is the internal conflict that has stirred within our ranks ^_^ i've briefly tried to stir trouble, so we can actually have a themed, internal tournament. yup thats right, we dual with each other in a series of styles, including aerial combat (will have special rules if we'll dual in the sky), and other stuff.
i probably should've posted the second idea in the annoucements, but again, im using my phone to post this (and forgive any typos)....
so let me know what you guys think!

Woot another costume contest - must try and make it to this one (even if it means staying up real late or getting up early ...)
Just a quick comment really - you suggest "copycats" as a theme ... dunno how good an idea this is as it's encouraging people to break the EULA (potentially).
I like the idea of mythology theme though - have a couple of mythology themed toons myself and see many around so would be a popular theme methinks.

Movededed! But yes, another contest is a great idea. You could do a mythology one, Adogg already did one on the forums but it was pretty fun. Might I suggest maybe do a specific mythology? An interesting one. ie make everyone make a character from Egyptian mythology or something. I dunno where DaPhil is, but if you want to run an Adapt-A-Costume, just go ahead and set it up, I'll give whatever help ya need.

For an Adapt-A-Costume, don't forget that it's about altering the original, not creating something entirely new. Under that light, I think neither Copycat nor a too specific Mythology would work that well (either you look like Batman or you don't). General Mythology is okay, methinks. I'd just give the contestants the opportunity to say a few words about their costume adaption. Don't forget though, we had some other ideas too. One of them was the Speed Contest. Copycat would work with that, since the Speed Contest is about creating a complete costume from the scratch. I'm semi-inactive atm. I read the forums, but I don't play. It bored me, so in late December I decided to take a break and wait for an acquaintance of mine, who announced to start playing CO in mid-January. I'll be active again in about 2 weeks at the latest. Regardless of that, I'd be willing to help with this contest. Or organize and announce it, like I did last time. Just make up your mind about what exactly you want to do and I'll gladly support it. On a sidenote, it's a shame the Winter Event is over already.. I had a full batch of Winter Edition Figures that could have been the star prize.

Pfff, by the end, we had like 3 full sets of the action figures in the vault Ros, you appear to be in charge this time, so... get to it!

Using my phone again....
Well, hey daphil ^_^ I look forward to seeing you soon. I think we should avoid the copycat, since it could get us some unwanted attention with the devs or evil meanies. Forgot about the infinite deadpools.
So any mythology should work. There's tons of cool supreme entities^_^ I'll start a thread in the forums, after we decide on the date and prizes...2 weeks?
Oh and is the tournament idea okay? No feedback on that... sweet ones to all ^_^

Be sure to include all the important information - especially to specify what you mean by "Mythology", maybe give them a few examples. Here's the announcement I wrote last time, maybe you can use it as checklist. The only thing missing in it, is that I forgot to tell them to bring only one costume adaption per player. forums.champions-online.com/showthread.php?t=93751As place of the event I would suggest either of the military bases in Canada and the Desert. They're accessible, close to the tailor, and unlike MC you're not bothered by the goddamn citizens. I don't have any rare Action Figures to give away - yet. Maybe ask around if somebody wants to donate anything. Last time, winners got the choice between: *) 1 rare or un-common Action Figure OR *) Any 2 other pieces (common Action Figures, any Costume Replacers) First place got first choice. For the time I'd suggest to do the usual again - 3 or 4 PM server time on a Saturday. It's probably the best time for all timezones.

Yeah, I think I'll have to back up on this, just in case you're still planning to do a new event.
I'll be damned if Greedtari is going to get even one more penny from me. My sub expires tuesday and unless things drastically change, I won't be returning to this game, ever.
Of course you're still free to hold contests on you own, and if I get around to checking out the SG-forums once in a while I might even help you with the planning.

Hmm, this stinks. Phil is out unless he decided to come back after Cryptic's grand renewal. But, oh well, we get back on the horse, right?

Phil is out unless he decided to come back after Cryptic's grand renewal. I'm not really buying into this. Especially not with Roper acting all surprised, telling us he just realized we wouldn't like to pay for content fixes. I rather supect a huge drop in recieved subscription fees forced him to change direction. Eventually he'll try again, and then he'll tell us that we already got a "free expansion" and shouldn't expect another one. Apart from that, all that has changed so far is that they picked up on talking to you, their players. Which is considered basic service elsewhere. Sorry, but I'm not coming back yet, and I won't unless they improve a lot of things without charging extra for it. That shouldn't keep you from doing another costume contest though. I'll gladly help you out with anything you need to plan it.
